Russian nuclear submarines are secretly tracking British vessels after entering into UK waters without detection, according to a new report. The submarines are capable of travelling at ‘silent speed’ thanks to their hydro-dynamically efficient hulls and noise-reducing pump-jet propulsion, allowing them to escape detection from underwater defence systems including sonar.
An increasing number of Russian naval vessels were detected in UK waters, including close to the Faslane base, foreign affairs think tank Henry Jackson Society alleged in July last year.
