Queen Elizabeth II Rest In Peace

By Dr Alan Mendoza

It is with regret Buckingham Palace has just announced the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Their statement is as follows:

The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.

The statement from the HJS is as follows:

Today’s news is desperately sad for the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and the World. The country we find ourselves in today is remarkably different from the Britain of 1952 both culturally and socially. This transformation would have been impossible without the constant and stoic presence of Queen Elizabeth II.

For 70 years she has been at the centre of our national celebrations in times of joy and a source of comfort in times of sorrow. She has been a constant presence in our lives and for many, the only monarch we have ever known. Her death will leave a void in all our lives.

A titan of the global stage whose legacy stretched from Churchill and Truman to Biden and Truss, she will be remembered as one of our greatest monarchs and perhaps even our greatest constitutional monarch.

Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this sad time.
