The Henry Jackson Society has reacted to comments issued by US President Donald Trump at the NATO summit in Brussels.
Dr Alan Mendoza, Executive Director of the Henry Jackson Society, said:
“President Trump’s comments at the NATO summit will stick in the craw of those who breathlessly state he is seeking to destroy transatlantic relations.
“This is a President who values the NATO alliance, but there has to be evidence of Europeans equally valuing it for him to prioritise it. It can no longer be a case of unrequited financial love, and never should have been.
“Trump’s tactics are working: NATO defence expenditure is increasing because Europeans have realised they have to do their bit to make the relationship special.”
