The Henry Jackson Society has commented on the incident in Westminster this morning, after a man was arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences.

Henry Jackson Society experts are available for comment throughout the day as more detail emerges on this incident. Please contact us on 020 7340 4520 or [email protected].

Tom Wilson, Research Fellow in the Centre on Radicalisation & Terrorism at the Henry Jackson Society, said:

“If this incident is indeed terrorism, then we are yet again seeing the use of a vehicle as part of a low-tech attack.

“This would also fit a pattern of terrorists increasingly targeting government and democratic institutions.

“This is a trend which has grown since the 2014 attack on the Canadian Parliament, and was particularly apparent in the 2017 attacks on Westminster and Whitehall.”
