How Russia is Evading Sanctions
How Russia is Evading Sanctions

Russia is successfully dodging sanctions. Despite four years of wide-ranging sanctions, the Kremlin has found ways to illegally fund its war in Ukraine. These methods include shadow fleet ships selling oil, cryptocurrency disguising transactions, and Russia’s own domestic banking and communication systems adopting to pressure. If the West cannot find a way to close loopholes, then Moscow’s treasury will continue to boom, and the war will continue, along with the human suffering that follows. This event will examine the methods used by Russia to avoid sanctions, and how policymakers should respond.
