If they are any measure, then the country can expect desperation, diversification, deal-making, and destabilization.

Of course, the world of the gangsters is far removed from that of the “upperworld,” but some of their stories speak to the increasingly frantic efforts taking place within the legitimate economy to survive in a time of scarcity and uncertainty.
