We will present rigorous analysis of a new form of sectarian politics that is taking shape ahead of May’s local elections. Our latest paper, Forecasting the Muslim Sectarian Wave, applies ward-level modelling of the 2024 English local elections to identify the local conditions most strongly associated with the success of candidates campaigning on Muslim communal grievance, foreign policy flashpoints, and transnational causes rather than conventional local issues.
