SUMMARY:How far has the melting pot 'melted'
DESCRIPTION:How far has the melting pot ‘melted’\n We are delighted to extend this invitation to you to join the Henry Jackson Society and acclaimed author Harry Saul Markham for what promises to be a thought-provoking panel discussion. Together\, we will explore some of the most pressing questions facing Britain today: the state of multiculturalism\, the troubling rise of antisemitism\, and what kind of society we want Britain to be in the years ahead. We hope you will consider lending your voice to this vital conversation. \n \n Name(Required)\n \n Title\n \n Dr.MissMr.Mrs.Ms.Mx.Prof.Rev.\n \n \n \n First name\n \n \n \n \n Last name\n \n \n \n Name of organisation(Required)Job title(Required)Email address(Required)\n \n \n Submit \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ\n \n \n \n\nJoin us on online here \n  \n \nHarry Saul Markham \nAuthor \n  \n \nThe Rt. SUMMARY:US Grand Strategy and the Madman Theory: A Talk with the Author
DESCRIPTION:In his book\, “US Grand Strategy and the Madman Theory”\, Boys argues that projecting calculated irrationality can terrify adversaries into submission\, but at enormous risk. From Nixon’s secret Cold War gambit to Trump’s chaotic\, tweet-driven diplomacy\, Boys argues that these two leaders weaponised unpredictability to keep allies guessing and enemies off balance. Where does strategy end and madness begin? In an era where perception can dictate power\, unpredictability becomes a weapon and fear its sharpest edge. This is an essential event for anyone wanting to understand U.S. politics under Trump. \n  \n \nDr John Hemmings \nDirector for the National Security Centre at the Henry Jackson Society \n  \n \nDr James D. Boys \nSenior Research Fellow\, Centre on US Politics\, University College London

SUMMARY:Antisemitism: What Everyone Needs to Know
DESCRIPTION:  \nDavid Harris is a lifelong advocate for Jewish rights and combating antisemitism. This event celebrates the release of his latest book\, “Antisemitism: What Everyone Needs to Know.” \n  \nThis event provides a unique opportunity to engage with one of the most influential voices in contemporary Jewish and global affairs. Our Director of Research\, Michael McManus\, will dive into Harris’ decades of leadership to present a clear-cut exploration of antisemitism\, its history\, and why it is a critical issue for global society. \n  \nHarris is the Executive Vice Chair of the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy\, previously serving as CEO of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) from 1990 to 2022. He was referred to by the late Israeli President and Nobel Laureate\, Shimon Peres\, as “the foreign minister of the Jewish people.” \n  \nIn this timely conversation\, Harris will reflect on the themes of his book\, connect them to current global challenges\, and offer practical insights into confronting hatred and protecting democratic values. Grounded\, informed\, and deeply personal\, this event promises a thoughtful and compelling discussion for anyone seeking to better understand antisemitism today and the responsibilities it places on all of us who believe in freedom and fairness. \n  \n \nDavid Harris \nAuthor\, Antisemitism: What Everyone Needs to Know & Executive Vice Chair\, Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism. \n  \n \nMichael McManus \nDirector of Research\nThe Henry Jackson Society

SUMMARY:Report Launch: War in the Twenty-First Century
DESCRIPTION:Please note this event will be online and in person. \n\n\nTo register for the Zoom session\, please CLICK HERE. \n\n\nTo register for in person attendance fill in the ticket form below. \nThe wars in Ukraine and Gaza are the two most significant conflicts of the 21st century so far. They are different in scale and setting. One is a state-on-state war of national survival in Europe\, the other is an asymmetric fight between a state and a non-state actor in the Middle East. However\, both conflicts clearly highlight the future of warfare. \nTogether\, they demonstrate a battlespace shaped by widespread drone warfare\, real-time battlefield innovations\, the weaponisation of information and the ongoing breakdown of the post-1945 rules-based order. They also emphasise the limitations of dependence on the United States and NATO\, the vulnerabilities of high-cost procurement cycles and the dangers when adversaries exploit Western adherence to the laws of armed conflict. \nJoin Major (Ret.) Andrew Fox\, Shadow Defence Secretary James Cartlidge MP and Dr Stuart Mitchell as they discuss what the wars in Ukraine and Gaza teach us about the future of warfare in the 21st century. \n\n \n \n \nMajor (Ret.) Andrew Fox \nMajor (Ret.) Andrew Fox served in the British Army from 2005 to 2021\, completing three tours in Afghanistan\, including one attached to the US Army Special Forces. He served in the Parachute Regiment and the Special Forces Support Group\, with additional tours in Bosnia\, the Middle East\, and Northern Ireland. \nAfter his active service\, he spent three years as a senior lecturer in the War Studies and Behavioural Science departments at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Andrew specialises in Defence\, the Middle East\, and disinformation. He holds degrees in Law & Politics\, Modern War Studies\, and Psychology. \nHis extensive experience has established him as a recognised authority in his field and he provides regular commentary on defence and foreign policy across the media including articles in the New York Post\, the Telegraph and Spiked. He has amassed a large following across his digital platforms\, including X (formerly Twitter) and Substack\, where he writes on disinformation\, defence and security as stories develop. \n  \n \nJames Cartlidge MP \nJames Cartlidge MP is a British politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for South Suffolk since 2015. A member of the Conservative Party\, he was appointed Shadow Secretary of State for Defence in 2024. He had previously served as Minister of State for Defence Procurement from 2023 to 2024\, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury from 2022 to 2023\, as well as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice from 2021 to 2022. \n \nDr Stuart Mitchell \nDr Stuart Mitchell\, Course Co-Director\, is a Senior Research Fellow at the Humanities Research Institute\, University of Buckingham. He is also Senior Lecturer in the Department of War Studies at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He has published on conventional and irregular warfare between 1914 and 1918\, strategy in the two World Wars\, and learning in the British military since the Napoleonic War. His latest book\, Counterinsurgency: Theory and Reality\, was co-authored with Dr Daniel Whittingham and published in 2021. He has appeared on a variety of podcasts\, videos and programmes.
