Dr Julia Rushchenko is a Research Fellow at the Centre for the Response to Radicalisation and Terrorism.
Julia holds a PhD in Global Criminology from Utrecht University (the Netherlands) and the University of Hamburg (Germany). Her research project was fully funded by the European Commission. Dr Julia Rushchenko currently teaches modules on Terrorism, Counter Terrorism Policing and Organised Crime (MA in Global Security) at the School of Law and Criminology at the University of West London. Previously, she worked as an Erasmus Mundus Doctoral Fellow at the University of Kent (2012-2015) and was a visiting fellow at the UC San Diego (2015). Besides her international academic experience, Julia’s expertise includes assignments with non-profit organisations (Amnesty for Women), think tanks (Hudson Institute) and the United Nations (Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights). Julia also consulted private companies, including tech start-ups in Germany and Ukraine. Julia is fluent in English, Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, Portuguese, and Italian languages. She also works with German, French, Dutch, and has a basic knowledge of Arabic and Farsi.
