Rob Newman joined The Henry Jackson Society as Director of Communications and Policy in February 2018, and is responsible for leading the Society’s media work and political outreach.
Prior to joining the Society, Rob worked in public affairs at a world-leading agency, advising FTSE 100 companies and multinationals on their political activity.
Before this, he spent over a decade in various roles within the Labour Party – through spells in power and opposition, for front and backbenchers. He was a press spokesman for a former Home Secretary, a political adviser to a shadow ministerial team and formed part of the secretariat to the Shadow Cabinet, regularly attending meetings. He is an expert in parliamentary procedure and has scrutinised complex legislation, while also crafting stories, campaigns and high-profile media interventions.
Rob holds a degree in English Literature and Philosophy from Cardiff University.
