Barry Macleod-Cullinane joined the Henry Jackson Society as Policy Relations Manager in March 2018.
Before joining the Henry Jackson Society, Barry worked for three years at national Citizens Advice helping strengthen its engagement with local government. Previously, Barry was a political adviser at London Councils for over a decade, advising the capital’s Conservative borough leaders and liaising with parliamentarians, City Hall and the media. Barry is used to building cross-party working relationships to achieve policy goals.
He has also researched welfare policy at thinks tanks in London and Washington DC, and was a graduate teaching assistant in political philosophy at the University of Hull and the University of Arizona.
Since 2006, Barry has been a councillor on Harrow Council; he was Deputy Leader of the Council from 2013-14 and is currently Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group. He also sits on the Local Government Association’s Resources Board, which covers local government funding.
Barry has a BA in Economics and an MA in Political Philosophy (on the Idea of Toleration) from the University of York.
