The Fresh Prince: Will Saudi royal Mohammed bin Salman’s reforms bring actual change?

“I ask you to judge me by the enemies I have made”, FDR once said.

If we were to apply the same logic to a current world leader and three-letter acronym, the Saudi crown prince known as MBS, we would be left with a complex verdict indeed.

Mohammed bin Salman makes his first UK visit as heir to the Saudi Arabian throne next week.

And while analysts have long argued that the lavishly-funded export by Saudi donors of ultraconservative Wahhabi Islam has in turn inspired extremists around the world, the Henry Jackson Society, a foreign affairs think tank which last year published a report highlighting the link between Saudi funding of Wahhabism and extremism in Britain, said that there had been a shift in policy over the past year.
