Across Europe, and in the United States and beyond, centrist politicians increasingly find themselves on the defensive, criticised deeply by those angered by economic crises, terrorist attacks, and a large scale migration. This trend has already had a profound electoral effect, helping to propel Donald Trump to the White House, giving unexpected strength to the Leave campaign during the Brexit referendum, and leading to record high levels of support for Marine Le Pen’s Front National.  Sasha Polakow-Suransky combines on-the-ground reporting and in-depth interviews to trace the rise of anti-establishment politics in the 21st century, and outline the efforts of political outsiders to brand themselves as the new champions of the West’s liberal tradition, with a particular focus on the use of immigration as a lightning rod for dissent. In his view, unfairly.

The Henry Jackson Society are pleased to invite you to an event with Sasha Polakow-Suransky, author of Go Back to Where You Came From. Mr Polakow-Suransky will outline his thesis and why he believes xenophobia has come to be tolerated in countries that have long been regarded as defenders of human rights and models of inclusiveness.

N.B. copies of Go Back to Where You Came From, will be available to buy on the day. Please note we do not accept card payments.
