Corbyn Slammed for Going to Muslim Group’s Event

Henry Jackson Society

Jeremy Corbyn has been slammed for attending an event thrown by a Muslim group criticised by a leading foreign policy think-tank.

The Labour leader reportedly attended an event thrown by the Muslim Engagement and Development Group (Mend) in Parliament on Wednesday.

It came just days after the Henry Jackson Society criticised the group in a report, saying it ‘regularly hosted illiberal, intolerant and extremist Islamist speakers at public events’.

Jennifer Gerber, the director of Labour Friends of Israel, hit out at the attendance.

He told the Jewish Chronicle it was ‘utterly unacceptable that Jeremy Corbyn last night chose to attend an event organised by a group which has repeatedly peddled myths about the power of the ‘Israeli lobby’ that play into classic antisemitic tropes’.

She added: ‘Mr Corbyn’s appearance at this event, and his refusal to attend tonight’s dinner once again suggests that he is more interested in attacking Israel than furthering the cause of dialogue, peace and reconciliation.’
