Sexual predators lured to join Isis with promise of rape and slavery

Isis successfully recruits sexual predators and men with histories of domestic abuse because of its use of rape and slavery to terrorise people, a new study has suggested. Islamic State’s embrace of sexual violence makes it attractive to these people, think-tank Henry Jackson Society said. The report added men from very conservative Muslim societies were enticed because many had come from cultures where casual sexual relationships and dating were treated as taboos.

Yvette Cooper, chairwoman of the influential Commons Home Affairs Select Committee, said: ‘Isil, Boko Haram and other evil groups are increasingly seeing human trafficking as a possible revenue stream – and we know that terrorists use sexual violence as one of the weapons they use to divide and create fear within communities.
