Why so many Islamist terrorists have links to Birmingham

Evidence shows that “lone wolves” tend to run in packs. It is too early to speculate about the exact identity of the associates of Khalid Masood, the Westminster attacker. But we do know that he was born in Kent but lived in the West Midlands. And there are many features of this attack and the attacker that conform to previously identified trends.

For one thing, Masood’s modus operandi was expected by the security services and public alike. Vehicular attacks and stabbings have been seen across Europe, as we saw last summer in Nice and in Berlin last December.
