As the Middle East region has experienced ever increasing levels of upheaval, Israel has sought to avoid being drawn into conflicts raging beyond its borders, while also looking to prevent the violence from spilling over into Israeli territory. In these turbulent times efforts to secure greater stability are being seen by policy makers as a key strategic objective. Yet the forces for regional destabilisation remain ever present. The threat from the Iranian nuclear programme and from Iran’s state sponsorship of terrorism, as well as the ongoing turmoil of the Syrian civil war and the ongoing growth of Islamic State across the Middle East collectively represent profound challenge to regional and global security.

By kind invitation of Bob Blackman MP, The Henry Jackson Society is pleased to invite you to a meeting with General Yosef Kuperwasser and Dr Jacques Neriah to discuss these issues further. General Kuperwasser and Dr Neriah each bring to this debate years of experience in the fraught politics and currents of the Middle East, offering a deep understanding of the complexities that continue to trouble policy makers and observers alike. The effort to formulate a Middle East policy that is both pragmatic but also principled risks becoming an increasingly unachievable task. The insights offered by experts from the region itself will prove vital in the coming years as western governments seek to navigate a workable strategy in this troubled, but strategically vital, part of the world.

Please note RSVPs must include your full name and any affiliations including for any guests you wish to bring. Because of the profiles of our guests and speakers and in order to avoid disappointment on your arrival, you must have received a confirmation email from HJS that you and your guests can attend, as we are regretfully unable to allow entry on the day if you have not RSVPd in advance.
